I have previously written about the logo for New York on this blog. Now in its 36th year, it the logo is as big a success as ever.
This morning I came across an interview with Milton Glaser, the creator of the logo as well as and a bit of interesting information about the length NY Tourism goes to, in order to protect the logo.

I recently sat through an agency presentation of new logos for a tourism destination. While the presentation was well thought-through, it sparked an interesting discussion regarding destination branding. While items such as language, culture and potential market size are important, most destinations look for potential markets as being located within a radius of no more than a 7-hours of flight-time. This being said, some of the below destinations may have done well by spending a bit more time on research. While not all of these logos are still in use the resemblance is interesting.

The best-known I HEART logo was developed for New York State Tourism, and was hugely successful. The tourism board boosted the I HEART campaign in 2007 spending a full $16 million on tourism advertising.
